Description
        Fimbristylis argentea (Rottb.) Vahl. Annual herb; culms tufted, terete-shortly trigonous, up to 20 high. Leaves linear-acicular, acute at apex, 3.5 - 6.5 x 0.3 - 01 cm, scabrous-serrulate at margin, eligulate; sheath up to 2.5 cm long. Inflorescence head, cluster, 1.2 x 1 cm across; involucral bracts 3, mucronate-spinlouse at apex, up to 5 cm long, scabrous. Spikelets spiral-cylindric, obtuse at apex, ca. 8 mm long, pale brown. Glume spiral arranged, ovate, obtuse at apex, 1 x 0.6 mm long, brownish-white. Stamens 1; filament short; anther linear-oblong, ca. 0.4 mm long. Ovary ellispoid-ovoid, 0.3 mm long; style 2-fid, ca. 0.7 mm long, ciliate at margin; stigma 2, subslender, ca. 0.5 mm long, ciliate at margin. Achenes ovoid-obovoid, ca. 0.5 x 0.3 mm long, shortly acute at apex, pale yellowish-brown.
